Common questions

Battery storage FAQs for Scottish homeowners

Coverage, retrofit, finance and getting a quote — answered for Scotland specifically.

Do you install home batteries across Scotland?

Yes. We install through MCS-certified partners across Scotland, from the central belt to rural and island homes. Coverage for your exact address is confirmed when you request a quote.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar panels?

Yes, in most homes. An AC-coupled battery connects alongside your current inverter with no changes to the solar array. Our MCS-certified installation partner checks your existing setup, network operator notification and consumer unit before recommending the right battery.

How much does a home battery cost in Scotland?

A 5kWh battery typically costs £3,500–£4,500 and a 10kWh battery £5,500–£7,000 installed at 0% VAT, checked October 2026. Your actual quote depends on your home, wiring and the battery you choose.

Is finance available?

Interest-free credit up to £30,000, subject to status.

What is 0% VAT on home batteries?

Installed home batteries, including retrofits and standalone batteries, are zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027. After that, VAT rises to 5% from 1 April 2027. This applies across the UK, including Scotland.

How long do home batteries last?

Most home batteries last 10–15 years, with warranties typically covering 10 years at around 70–80% capacity. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistries tend to have the longest cycle life.

Can a battery work without solar panels?

Yes. A battery-only system charges on a cheap overnight tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go and discharges during expensive evening hours. This works well for homes where solar panels are not practical.

How do I get a quote?

Call 0141 230 0198 or fill in the quote form. We arrange a survey of your home with our MCS-certified installation partner, then you receive a written, no-obligation quote.
